What an experience!

Our farmer friend came over last Saturday (6/1) and asked if the older kids would be interested in working for him for a few days. I agreed that they would be delighted. He said he was going to transplant in the field behind his house and his daughter wanted her kids to work. He thought our kids would enjoy the opportunity as well and he needed a few more kids. They worked Wednesday, Friday and today! So this is what Ben, Marissa and Emily have been doing - awesome outside school!

Kevin and I, with the other four girls, stopped by yesterday just to see it for ourselves. It was amazing! Half the kids sit and put the plants in the machine which puts them in the ground. The other group of kids walks behind and plants any that the machine may have skipped (it's an old machine). The field is about a 1/4 of a mile long. So they go down and come back, and then switch places. They have a break for lunch and enjoy chatting (those who are walking). Kevin really enjoyed walking out and seeing how it works. It was fascinating and the kids have really enjoyed it all! They have been paid $8/hour so we will now have a grand opportunity to talk about finances. They have all be wonderful to mention tithing and how much they have after paying tithing first!

This is what else we did/saw while we were there, waiting and watching!

Harmonie was napping in the car so she missed out. It was really neat and I'm glad we stopped by to see it for ourselves. The kids talked about it and I just wanted to see it for myself. Thank you Greg!

That is great! I love seeing kids learn the value of hard work. It is such an important lesson.

Looks like fun, and the money part isn't bad either! Tell the kids we say hi and miss them!
