What have I done for someone today?
Have I done any good in the world today?

Pirates and Privateers

We drove to Fort Phoenix to learn about the area from a Pirate/Privateer. We arrived a bit early so we went for a walk and then came back to the remains of the fort. He told of the difference between pirates and privateers, as well as giving lots of history of the area because the British fought the people in the area. He did a great job giving historical information but making it fun and interesting, with jokes for the adults as well. It was a great presentation.

So excited to be with Uncle Chris.

Looking at the remains of the fort from the parking lot.
The water is on the other side of the knoll.

He can't be alone with this crew.

We were early so we walked down to the dike.
Here is the view looking back at the fort.

Fisherman caught something, but it was too small
so it got tossed back in.

Now we are getting ready to hear what the pirate has to say.

Getting his mini canon ready - putting in the ball.

Tapping down the gun powder.

Putting in the wick.

A little more talking about the fuse.

Getting it burning and hot.

Ready...

Boom!

Now he did some magic with a rope,
Marissa got to inspect the rope.

Tied his special knot.
(I can't remember the name of it.)

The knot popped off and the rope was whole again.
