Gettysburg lodge saved us

We arrived at the Gettysburg resort after office hours and it was raining. We had the campsite we wanted but it was chilly and wet and we had no desire to try and set up our tents, cook dinner and try to get some sleep in such unfavorable conditions. Fortunately, we got a hold of the host and he said we could hang out in the lodge until the rain stopped. So that's what we did. We found a TV for the kids and they settled down while Kevin and I tried to figure out what to do. We hoped the rain would stop soon but the forecast wasn't in our favor - said it could rain until 10 pm. Fortunately it wasn't a really hard rain so I was able to gather the food for dinner (Mexically soup), mix it in our big pot and then use our bowls to warm up individual servings in the microwave upstairs. The kids were awesome and ate most of the soup so we didn't have any leftovers!

The little kids enjoyed playing with the toys and books that were available.

The bigger guys found some books they could enjoy.

Kevin found checkers and a child who would play with him.

The host came by around 9:30 and said the rain had stopped. We still had no desires to try and set up tents (now in the damp darkness) so we asked if we could just sleep in the lodge for the night. He said sure and locked us in. We gathered our sleeping bags, blankets and pillows and laid out on the floor. It was so much better than trying to sleep outside in the chilly night air.

Naomi was on her own carpet way back in the corner,
while all the other girls fit on the larger carpet.

Xiomara had a bean bag, too.

Ben chose to sleep on two bean bags.

What a nice area for us to just sack out in.

We woke up, cleaned up, ate, and were on our way before they opened the lodge up. The rain had cleared so we were ready to enjoy a day of driving. Glad it all worked out in the end.
