First Young Woman!

Happy birthday to Marissa, who turned 12 and moved out of Primary and into Young Women! She was so excited and yet very nervous. She worked ahead in school so she didn't have to do any school work on her birthday - what a smart kid! She helped make pancakes and enjoyed making so many different things to her siblings.

She was very excited to make her own cake. (Grandma and Grandpa Nichols had an activity they had to go to so they were not able to come to the party.) She had a grand plan but my limited abilities helped her scale it down to something doable for us. She still had fun and I think it came out beautifully! Because she is entering Beehives in Young Women, she wanted that to be the theme of the cake. I should have been more prepared so that we could have done bees but I think the flowers and beehive turned out fine.

Everyone enjoyed her choice for dinner - sweet and sour chicken with rice. She was so excited to have the party. It was a nice day to celebrate Marissa. She got lots of great gifts and really enjoyed receiving so many! It was a fun little party and everyone loves the cake and frosting! Great job, Marissa!

She has some trees she started from seeds,
and she needs to repot them.

Loves Nancy Drew.

Grandma and Grandpa Nichols gave her a gift...

a digital camera.

Wants to be able to draw circles without the compass changing sizes on her.

Now that's a big bag of candy.

Needed some new Sunday shoes - she was elated!

Yes, she actually asked for her own tube of toothpaste.
And chapstick (not pictured but received happily.)

She also asked for a subscription to Cricket magazine.
It'll arrive in July.

Happy birthday to my creative, enthusiastic, helpful, book worm, animal lover, tough, outdoor loving, beautiful Marissa!
