Trying things a little differently

Kevin decided to build a large outdoor feeder for the chickens so our neighbors wouldn't have to worry about feeding them. He is such a great planner and builder!

I snuck a picture of Ben, the big helper.

Since the chicken and pig yard is now where our garden used to be, we decided to do things a little differently. Kevin built boxes for each of the 6 older kids, as well as one for us and a small one for Harmonie and Camdilyn to share. This year we went to a nursery and bought all the veggie plants we wanted in our boxes. We planted them and we have gardens! We will never do gardens from seeds again! Hopefully, they are strong enough to last while we are gone, since we leave on vacation on Monday. We are very excited about this new way of doing our gardens!

Kemiah's may be a little full.
She planted:
peas, banana peppers, zucchini, pickling cucumbers, and broccoli.

Marissa's also looks full.
She planted:
sugar snap peas in the back,
a row of carrots (from seed),
rainbow peppers in the middle,
watermelon on the left,
tomato on the right.

Xiomara's looks a little empty, but it's not.
She planted:
watermelon on the left,
zucchini in the middle,
carrots in the back (from seed),
onions on the right end.

Domonique's garden is empty.
She planted:
watermelon and pumpkin.

Emily's also looks empty but isn't.
She planted:
onions on the left end,
potatoes in the middle,
tomatoes on the right end.

Harmonie and Camdilyn have the strawberry patch.

Look at all those chickens!
(Any one need eggs?)

Ben's is a little empty.
He planted:
pumpkins (the plant on the left)
potatoes on the right.

What a fun sight!
Good luck little gardens.
Hopefully we can be successful at taking care of our own beds.

Hard at work but almost done.
Strong enough that the pigs won't knock it over.
