Oh really?

During dinner Domonqiue decided to ask the following question, "Mom, why don't you have a treadmill?"
I quickly replied, "Because I don't like to run."
To my surprise her response was, "You could crawl."

Oh really? I have seen some people do some really amazing things on a treadmill - and it almost makes me want to try being a little more creative if I were to ever get on a treadmill, but I'm sure it would not go well for me - but I have never seen anyone crawl on a treadmill. That would be odd to say the least so I will stick to walking or using my elliptical machine.

Something you didn't know

Xiomara, Kemiah and Domonique are learning about the different groups of animals. Today they are focusing on mammals and their characteristics. At lunch, we started talking about mammals that walk on two legs.

Me - "primates, humans and ducks." 

Emily - "Ducks are not mammals, mom." 

Domonique - "They lay eggs."

Me - "So does the platypus."

Xiomara - "So does the enchilada." (She meant to say echidna but has a hard time saying it and got a little confused.)

We all started laughing! What a great learning moment for us all! Next time you have enchiladas, make sure it's not time for it to lay an egg or you'll get a little something extra with your meal!

Does she know something I don't?

Marissa came into the house to wash the dishes and she was a bit grumpy about it, so I was talking funny and hugging her and trying to cheer her up. She eventually smiled, and laughed, so I picked her up in a hug. When I put her down she said, "Soon you won't be able to pick me up." I confidently said, "Oh, I'll always be able to pick you up." She confidently replied, "Not when I'm 30. You'll be in a wheel chair."

Clever kids

The conversation over breakfast went something like this...
B - I could lick the toast and then put it back and then a stranger would pick it up and take a bite. That would be gross.
M - And his face would turn green and ...
E - And what if it was a robber? You could lick all the toast. Then they would come in and say, "This is a nice family to leave food out." Then they would take a bite of the wet toast and run away.
B - They would tell all their robber friends to stay away from our house.
E - Then we could tell our neighbors and they would leave out soggy toast.
M - Then we could make Michigan safe.
E - And then would could tell all of America.

Note how my kids figured out how to save our nation from robbers while they were eating their breakfast this morning. If only we could solve our thievery problems with soggy toast.
