Cupcake mania

We have been enjoying some treats. Emily got permission from her aunt to use her delicious cookie dough cupcakes as an item to sell in their girls camp fundraiser. She wanted to practice so she made some Saturday. We weren't able to finish them so she decided to take them to the pot-luck lunch at Church on Sunday. They were a hit! So much so that she got home from church and made another batch to take to the Bishop's Youth Discussion that same night. Wow! That was a lot of cupcakes. 

(As if that wasn't enough... we had the missionaries over on Tuesday (after these pictures were taken) and she made another batch of these delicious treats! They are so good and she is truly becoming a wonderful little baker!)

Creative with cupcakes!

For the Women's General Broadcast, our ward RS decided to have a cupcake contest. I wanted to make cupcakes like my oldest sister, but decided we could just be creative instead of delicious and beautiful. Anyway, each of the girls wanted to make their own so we made some big ones and some mini ones - chocolate and red velvet. Then the girls had fun decorating.

Xiomara decided on a whale.

Kemiah chose a monster.

 Marissa chose an autumn theme.

Autumn colors and a leaf stencil, and powdered sugar.

Little girls entertained themselves while the rest of us worked.

I chose a water theme.

 Emily chose a back to school theme.

We all won prizes for our efforts!

Way to go girls! We had lots of fun and I'm sure we'll be eating cupcakes for a week!

Cup cake tutorial from the professional

Monique and her daughters have started a bakery out of her home. They make amazing filled cupcakes and cakes and cookie sandwiches. She saved some for us to learn how to do it after we arrived and had dinner. The girls really enjoyed doing it and we all enjoyed eating them! 

First she picked out a bit of cake from the center. Then she piped in the filling (caramel this time).

The yummy butter cream frosting gets piped on top and it is so yummy!

Then she topped it with nuts and more caramel drizzle - if you could wait that long! I so wish I lived closer to her so I could buy these delicious treats. Awesomeness - Sugar Cubed Bakery!
