Fun, and not so fun.

I was enjoying feeding Camdilyn grits for breakfast. I had finished mine and I was thrilled that she was eating hers, willingly. She has started to enjoy more regular food instead of baby food, which is nice and yet makes things a little more difficult when we are out and about and she doesn't want to eat the baby food I brought for her. Back to this morning... she was eating just fine and we were about done. The not so fun part came when she sneezed with a mouth full of grits. I'm pretty sure you can use your imagination to picture what happened. Yes, I had a bit of a mess to clean up, most of which was on me! Maybe I just need to pay a little more attention to the baby so that I can put my hand up and catch most of the spray.

I know everything.

Domonique and Harmonie were helping me in the kitchen this morning as I was making toast for breakfast. Domonique was explaining the hotness of the toaster to Harmonie and telling her not to touch it. She talked about the lever to push down the toast and told Harmonie not to touch it because it would get hot. I told them that it wouldn't get hot but they just needed to wait for the toast to pop up. Domonique said something else to Harmonie and then stated: "I know everything." I'm not sure what she considers everything but I am glad she has self confidence.

What I think and what she thinks...

is not always the same thing. I asked, "Are you making a mess with the chalk?" as I hear the sound of chalk being rubbed all over the chalkboard and can envision all that dust falling to the floor. She says, "No, I'm making snow."...... Isn't that what I just asked?

I think she's teething.

She chewed and chewed on the boxes.

Sweet little toes!

The feet don't have anything to do with teething... except that I will occasionally catch her with her toes in her mouth, but I just thought they were cute - they ARE cute.

She is a full up walker - toddler!

Not that these pictures show it very well, but she is walking.

Actually, these pictures were taken today and she has been walking for over two weeks now.

So I'm a little late.... She's still walking!

And she's super cute, too!

General Conference

During the last session of General Conference, I was watching with Domonique and Harmonie in our living room, while everyone else was upstairs watching on the big screen (projector on a sheet). It was fun to be with my little girls but they aren't very good at just sitting and listening. It was awesome when the choir started to sing "I Am a Child of God" and I mentioned to the girls that they knew this one! They got all excited when they recognized it, ran up to the table and started singing along. It was so wonderful!

Canning our harvest

Yesterday was the day I decided to do some canning. Wow, what a job. Wash, peel, cut up, and all the other stuff. I'm sure it will get easier but it takes a lot of time. I can only fit 7 quarts in my canner at one time, so I did the potatoes first. I only had to use 14 medium/large potatoes so I think I will be canning for the rest of winter.... wait, the potatoes may not last that long. We still need to get most of them out of the ground! Anyone want some potatoes? It took two pie pumpkins to fill the 7 quarts. One jar didn't seal so I used it tonight to make pumpkin cake (which we will eat after conference tomorrow). I still had more puree left over so we can make pumpkin cookies on Monday, and probably pumpkin pancakes as well! Good thing we all enjoy eating it!

 

Interpreting

Domonique came into the dining room and said, "I thought I heard Harmonie language. Did she come inside?"
I had to think about it for a bit... she thought she heard Harmonie's voice. What a funny way to express her thought. She is very expressive and says some great things.
