Camping our way to Massachusetts

We are actually on our way to Massachusetts but decided to stop off to visit the Air Force Museum so we are staying at a resort just north of Dayton. As we went to bed last night, the rain came. Our plan was to leave in the morning and drive to Gettysburg, and then spend Wednesday touring the sites. Kevin and I looked at the forecast and the rain we were just now getting was heading east, so we would run into the rain in Gettysburg. We decided to stay in Ohio and just drive to Gettysburg on Wednesday, and then push on to Massachusetts on Thursday, without seeing any sites.

After breakfast, everyone heads off the play.

This was a great resort with lots to do.

Including an amazing 18 hole mini-golf course!

And a fantastic indoor pool - 

with two hot tubs...

and a kiddie pool.

Kevin had some work to catch up on.

The older guys had some school to do,

since their Delta College classes started.

Found a huge praying mantis!

And a really big, fuzzy caterpillar.

Eventually a couple kids got fishing poles out and had some fun.

Naomi has some banged up knees.

Reminded me of a river back on an island - 

when I only had 5 kids.

Kevin played some putt-putt with some of the kids.

While the other kids had fun playing on the playground.

But I realized I forgot the A1 sauce.

So dinner was put on hold

while Kevin drove to Walmart to pick some up.

Now we're cookin'!

It was a fun filled, relaxing day spent together as a family. Sure hope the rain has moved on when we get out east.

National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, Ohio

This place is huge! And it is full of things relating to the Air Force. It was amazing! From the very beginning Kevin was talking away and sharing things with the kids. It was really a wonderful opportunity - and it was free! We walked and walked and walked and Kevin talked and talked and talked. It was a lifetime ago but he still knows and remembers so much. It was fun for all of us (even some strangers who stopped to listen)! We will have to go again, and start in the back and work our way to the front so that we can catch the stuff we missed this time.

 

Just me and Emily

The summer reading program at our library always has a drawing for bigger prizes for those who complete the program. Emily seems to be the lucky one in our family and usually wins a bonus prize. This year she won two movie tickets to the theater in Birch Run, the city just south of us. We have never been to that theater so we had no idea what to expect. When we told the ticket guy which movie we wanted to see, he said it was in one of their smaller theaters so I was expecting small, and tight. We walked in and it was smallish but the seats were huge. As we sat down, we realized that we could recline. Not simply by pushing the chair back but by pushing a button and it would recline to whatever position you wanted it. We thought it was the coolest thing ever. It was very fun to spend some time with Emily, and we enjoyed watching Despicable Me 3.

We celebrated for her!

Grammy's birthday had to be celebrated! Of course, the best way to celebrate is with pancakes and ice cream for breakfast! So that's what we did! I made the pancakes so they were all sorts of funny face, because that's my favorite! So here's to another year with my mother still in our lives! We are so happy for such a wonderful blessing! Thank you for loving us all!
