She really doesn't like utensils

She has never liked me feeding her with a fork or a spoon. She clamps her mouth shut and moves her head away. It's a different story when I use my fingers to feed her. Needless to say, she doesn't eat baby food very well. So we have moved on to other finger foods. Tonight she enjoyed beans and corn that she could pick up off her tray, or I could put in her mouth (if I was lucky). What a picky little person. It's interesting to me how early their littler personalities show and how different each one is from the other. Love them all!

This kid is awesome!

I can get any of my kids to eat ice cream, cake or candy. Anything sweet is easy! I can get most of them to eat rice - most anything with rice. Most of my kids are pretty good eaters. This one is so silly. She doesn't like pasta, but she will eat stir fry veggies and chicken with out any problems. All the other kids don't really like it - or struggle to eat some of the stuff in it. This kid, she loves it and cleaned her bowl, but she didn't want anything to do with the noodles I made to go with it. Silly eater, but I'll keep her!

Naomi's first baby food experience

I decided it was time to try our luck with baby food. I mixed up some cereal and gave it a whirl. She really wanted to be involved and tried to do it herself. She wasn't really thrilled with the actual food - taste or texture or whatever - but it was fun.

Packing Party

We store food in juice bottles and milk jugs.
Kevin worked with the kids to get it taken care of.
I think they had a little too much fun.

Ben's first youth dance.
He looks a little scared, don't you think?

No, he was just messing with me!
He was very excited (and had a good time)!

My new favorite

We have always enjoyed German pancakes (or whatever you call them). I usually make them in two big glass pans in hopes that the middle will cook before the bottom and edges are burnt. I'm often disappointed. I saw these on the internet and decided we'd try them.

They turned out perfect! I get 24 muffins out of one recipe so I had to make 2 recipes to get 48 muffins... and we had some left over. The wells were perfect for whatever you want to fill them with - although they aren't necessary because you're going to cut them up and eat them. They weren't burnt at all and it took only 11 minutes to bake them! You can't get any better than that!

I will say that the new muffin pan (the one on the left) was WAY better than mine. They didn't stick at all and they were cooked perfectly. I had to empty the pans out to fill them again with the second batch and needed to spray my pan again but the new one was awesome. Anyway, just thought I'd share!

Disappointment

Yesterday, I decided to make some tortillas. I was so excited because I remembered them being delicious when I made them on the island. I was sadly disappointed because they didn't taste the same at all. Bummer. I'm glad the kids like them because I'm ready to toss them to the chickens. I guess I'll be sticking with store bought from now on.
