Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere

The kids did a great job growing pumpkins this year! It was so fun to watch them grow and when it was time to harvest you had to push the leaves out of the way and they kept finding more and more and more. The biggest one is called Juliet, and the next one was Romeo. We are ready to carve!

(10/26)

Do you see how thick the meat inside is?
That's going to be crazy to clean out.

(10/27)
The pumpkin was throwing up -
Ben tossed the seeds and stuff out the mouth.
It was really funny to watch.

We brought the smaller ones inside to carve.

Kemiah's pumpkin eating a pumkin.
Yikes!

Ben just scratched off the skin -
and put a flashlight inside.
It was awesome when it was glowing.
Can you tell what he did?

I went a little pie crazy for the Trunk-or-Treat,
but I was so excited and couldn't decide which one I wanted the most.
Pumpkin, cherry, banana cream,
derby, coconut cream.

Marissa made the coconut cream filling and
it won a prize at the Trunk-or-Treat!

We had lots of fun at the Trunk-or-Treat,
which they moved inside because it was wet and cold outside.
Just as well and easier, in my opinion.

The little marshmallow -
which is the same costume I have used since Benjamin,
for all the little ones for their first Halloween.

Domonique in her "Lego person" costume

The cardboard Lego costume was Kemiah's idea and she worked really hard to make it happen. I stepped in and helped a little, and gave her my old sweats so we didn't have to worry about painting the box. I guess everyone thought it was a pretty creative idea because they won the most creative costume prize!

Red Riding Hood

We were going for Piggie and Gerald,
but they could also be Pigglet and Eeyore.

Benjamin as Frodo (again) with his glowing pumpkin.
Can you see the tree of life vision?

 Here's our "trunk" room.
If yo wanted candy, you had to stick your hand
INSIDE the jack-o-lanterns mouth.
(The red strap is there because I dropped it and it broke.)

Little Halloween friends -
marshmallow (of course) and Toothless

 The whole scary bunch!

Trunk or Treat

It was fun to attend our ward Trunk or Treat activity tonight. It was a bit chilly but we all survived. I was walking around the building and parking lot again this year, trying to get this baby to come, so we'll see what happens the rest of the weekend. (It worked two years ago!) So here are our little costumed children.
Harmonie and Domonique - M&M duo

Kemiah and Xiomara - two headed creature

Ben as Sherlock and Camdilyn as a police officer.

Emily the warrior princess, huntress, elvin keeper of the woods!
With Naomi a little witch (who was really cold).

The only picture I took of the kids actually doing any activities.

Group photo of all the kids.
Yes, Marissa was a purple witch again.

I'm confused (that was my costume idea).

Kevin was himself!
He stayed with our trunk which had shredded paper, two little pumpkins
and our very docile old rooster, Anna.
Everyone was very surprised that we brought a live chicken.
But everyone also enjoyed petting him.
I am so sad I didn't get a picture of our trunk!

When we got home, one of the kids gave Kevin a drink bottle.
Kevin talked about he had always wanted one when he was a kid,
but never had one,
so this was his very first one!
I had to document the moment!

Happy Trunk or Treating and we all went to bed, tired but happy to have enjoyed a fun evening with family and friends. We'll see if anything happens this weekend with the baby we are all excited to meet!

Early Halloween - Trunk or Treat and Chili Cookoff

We made it to the Church for the Trunk or Treat with all the kids and their costumes. That is quite a feat. They were all very excited and ready to go gather their loot. It was fun to see all the creative costumes and to hang with our friends.

Marshmallow, of course

The chili dinner even had games and prizes.
We all had a very good time.

The whole gang!

Trunk or Treat

Presenting our little group of costumed cuties:
Ben as John Saltworth (Sherlock Holmes in disguise),Camdilyn as an elephant, Marissa as Olaf, Harmonie as a cat, Emily as a pirate, Xiomara as a cowgirl, Kemiah as a ninja, Domonique as Cinderella.
They had a good time with their buddies, walking around to the different trunks to get treats and play games. We have some really fun friends.

I spent my time walking briskly around the parking lot. I had some contractions earlier in the day and thought maybe I could get things going if I walked more. I only stopped to talk to a few people and just kept walking. I had some really strong, strange contractions and became very hopeful that I could actually have an October baby! I was glad my kids could have fun with their friends.
