Apple picking

Our friend, Kathy, called to let me know her neighbor had apples we could come pick. So we went over and got loads of apples off the ground for the pigs and picked loads of good apple for our own use. It was a little scary because there were wasps (yellow jackets, hornets, not exactly sure what to call them) and they were all over the apples on the ground. Fortunately, we did a great job not getting stung as we collected our apples but we had to bang the buckets when we loaded them in the car to get the wasps off the apples. Unfortunately, Naomi ended up getting one stuck on her neck and it stung her three times before it made it's escape. Poor little girl!

Found lots of these strange black beetle like bugs.

Kicking the bucket to get the wasps out.

There was lots of apple eating, too, and we came home with lots of apples. I'm sure the pigs will love their apple treats. Now I have to figure out what to do with all the apples we brought home for us.

(Note: Early this morning Kevin took the Fab Five with him to the church to do our annual cleaning of the building. They worked hard planting grass seed, raking, planting new plants and so forth. They had a full day of work today and I wanted record their work!)
