Last August Camping Trip

We drove down Thursday evening, the 24th, to Lake Shore Resort near Flint. It was the first time for us to go to this place and everyone was pretty excited. The whole month has been a bit chilly for what we expected for August. We also enjoyed rain most weekends. (The kids would ask, "What is wrong with rain on Monday-Wednesday, instead of the weekend?") We set up camp near all the playing stuff and were excited to have some fun.

Friday was spent doing all sorts of stuff. We went for a walk and I just had to take a picture of the wet plants. Next time I'll stick to sidewalks.

Benjamin was excited to do some fishing.

Naomi enjoys her rides while we walk.

Look at all those little fish.

And a giant frog!

Everyone ended up joining us for a bit and it was fun.

Looking at the frog!

Looking at the fish.

Swampy area in the woods at the end of our walk,
on our way back to our campsite.

Of course we play putt-putt.
They had an 18-hole course, and it was really fun.
(Except for the volume of the music - it was so loud.)

Third hole-in-one!

Naomi loved to put the ball right next to the hole,

and then tap it in.

I could have watched that all day long.
If I had some place to sit and watch.

Go baby!

Right in the hole!

The playground was fun, too.
For those who like to play in the sand.

Yellow bird that was very tricky to get a picture of.

Little group of golfers.

She loved this game!

This was her version of how to play it.

My group of golfers -
everyone cooperated!

Back at the campsite for some lunch.

Our campsite, with all their bikes.
They were so happy to have the bikes,
since this resort is huge.

Happy birthday to Emily!
We remembered to bring the card from Grammy and Gaffa!
(We will have the party on Sunday.)

Sweet 13!
(She said she was just getting used to being 12.)

Box head.

A game of horseshoes since they were done with lunch before everyone else.

They wanted to go swimming,
so I was glad it was sunny for them.
This was the kiddie pool.

Naomi took some time to get used to the idea of playing in the water.

The older ones enjoyed the lazy river.

Kevin enjoyed a nap in the shade.

Camdilyn getting so brave and putting her face in the water.

Naomi getting a drink.

She knows she needs to plug her nose.

But then her hand comes off to keep her from falling in the water.

So she still gets water up her nose, a bit.

Try again.

They were done in the water so they enjoyed laying in the sun and pretending.

Lazy river floating through the water.

Watching from the outside.

Bonfire to prepare for dinner - hamburgers.

Here's my little group riding bikes together.
I was pushing the stroller and trying to keep up.

Kevin took others onto the lake for some fun.

Marissa took the camera to catch Ben under the bridge.

I stayed up on the bridge as the boaters went by.

After the boaters passed, the bikers wanted to ride down the other side of the bridge. We got everyone on their bikes and they were off. Domonique went and stopped in the middle of the hill. Camdilyn went and I kept telling her to slow down but she ran right into Domonique and fell off her bike. She bonked her forehead on the path and started to cry. I was very scary for her and for me to watch because I couldn't stop it from happening. She did recover and was a little more cautious going down the other way. I felt so bad for her. Fortunately that was our only accident.

Group picture - on water or on land!

Waiting at the campsite for s'mores.

Pretty flowers at the bathroom.

Xiomara, Camdilyn, Harmonie, Naomi and I were at the campsite,
so we had s'mores, while the other guys were getting in one more game of putt-putt.

I put the three littlest girls to bed before the other guys came back to have their s'mores.

Showing sweet deliciousness,
and then she went to bed.

Some how the others got to talking about Scott Sterling,
from Studio C.
So they spent a good hour or more watching different
Studio C episodes.
What a funny thing to do while camping.

I don't have any pictures from Saturday so it must have been mostly packing up - Kevin and Emily had to be back in Saginaw for a youth planning meeting, so we couldn't hang out all morning. It was a fun resort with lots to do and we had a great time.
