Other happenings on this date...

Since I was outside taking pictures of Domonique and her awesome bike riding skills, I decided to capture a few other happenings as well.

 

Marissa was so excited that she caught this little field mouse. It was so little and she wanted to keep it as a pet. She did just that for about an hour (not really sure how long she kept it) but I heard she fed it corn and other things before letting it go. She loves animals, and rodents.

 

 

Ben was enjoying the sunshine as he practiced using the bow and arrows that Pepere gave him. He uses a box, with his own target drawn onto it. He has improved and really enjoys it. The only down side, he says, is that the string of the bow keeps hitting his arm so he has a sore spot. He'll figure something out because he's creative and inventive.

 

I also noticed this bee on the little wild flowers in my yard. Just thought I'd toss that in for fun.

This is what I found...

Kevin was home a little earlier than normal and asked if I wanted Harmonie up from her nap. I said he could get her up now or wait another 1/2 an hour. Then he disappeared and I went on with what I was doing (which was keeping me from getting her up myself). After an hour went by I realized she wasn't around so I sent Marissa up to wake up Harmonie. She came back down and said, "Dad's in bed with Harmonie and they are both asleep." He was so tired and snuggled with his littlest girl. I had to get a picture of the sweetness.

18 months old!

She is such a sweetie! She gets into lots of things that she knows she shouldn't. She understands so much and tries to communicate in her own language. She is strong, happy, loving, and wonderful. I'm pretty sure I say this about all my kids at this age. She feeds herself, with guidance. She will eat most anything. We still have her on soy milk but I'm adding whole milk a little at a time to see how she does. She loves to see her picture after I have taken it, and that's why she keeps pointing at me in the pictures. She loves playing outside, sliding, swinging, putting anything in her mouth, playing games or reading books. She is now legal to go to nursery at church - she has been going for the past three months because we have awesome nursery leaders and Harmonie is just such a great kid!



 

Me at 34 weeks

Just thought I'd toss this in, you know, to keep a record of all that is my life. I'm getting bigger, baby wiggles a lot, and we are excited to be in the last little bit before she arrives! I'm ready to have a baby that comes earlier than just a few days... but I'm also prepared to get into the beginning of October before she arrives. Either way, healthy is the best!

From Ben's garden!

Ben decided today was the day to pick some cantaloupe from his garden. They weren't very big but they looked ready, and smelled ready! He brought it inside and we weighed it just to see how heavy it was - over 2 lbs. The seed packet said it would yield 2 lb fruit. He was so excited to cut it up and try it and share it. We took it to a pot-luck dinner party with Kevin's coworkers. It tasted awesome and he was thrilled! Way to go Mr. Farmer!

The things you learn.

Tonight, Kevin brought out a 1000 piece African animal scene puzzle to work on with the kids. I took Harmonie into the library and played with her (chasing her, tickling her, surprising her, putting her on my back, etc.) until I couldn't do it anymore. Then we got out books. One book was about animals and I like to do the sounds so she can hear them. I decided I wanted her to hear what a real zebra sounds like, so we went to the computer. Domonique joined us and we had fun listening to all sorts of different animals. One of the clips we watched was about giraffes. We learned all sorts of new facts about them. I went into the dining room to see how the puzzle was coming along, and someone was actually talking about giraffes. Perfect opportunity to share some of the things I just learned! I asked, "Do you know how many vertebrae a giraffe has in it's neck?" Marissa immediately said, "The same as a human." Kevin said, "Look how long it is. You really think it only has 7?" I giggled and said, "Well, yes, it does!" Then I looked at Marissa and said, "How did you know that?" She looked at me and said, "I read it." Of course you did! She has read so much stuff - and that happened to be one of the things that stuck. I'm sure she could teach me all sorts of things, if I could just ask the right questions!

Torture the Pig.

Before dinner tonight, Kevin and I were doing the dishes that had piled up from breakfast and lunch. (I'm not one who does them right away, unfortunately.) Kemiah was standing in the kitchen doorway and asked her dad, "Do you want to snuggle?" Sweet, right? He said "not right now" because he was helping with dishes. There was a pause, then she asked, "When can you torture the pig?" I laughed right out loud and Kevin got a big smile on his face. You see, Kevin's nickname for Kemiah is Pig. So, she was asking him to come and play with her. It was so funny! He had to give in and went and played with her, and snuggled because he is really tired right now. It was a really great moment that I wanted to remember forever.
