Talents of Ben

Yesterday, he finished school early, 

so he tried his hand at pencil drawing.

He did a nice job, I think.

Today, he decided it would be funny to hide.

Can you see him?

He was sort of like a turtle.

Kitchen Science

Eggs in vinegar.

The outer layer of shell is dissolved.

Really neat to watch over three days.

Everyone thought they felt weird,

soft and squishy.

We could see the yolk moving around inside the egg.

Added food coloring to see if it would stain just the outside,

or color in inside as well.

It did go through the membrane and colored the inside stuff red. We tried to put it in a salt water solution to see if it would draw water out but it didn't work like I thought it would. I think I needed to cover the egg with a very high salt concentration and I wasn't willing to do that. It was fun to check it every day and I know Kemiah enjoyed it so it was totally worth it.

Art Lesson or just drawing

Marissa is working at teaching some art skills to the other girls.

Camdilyn is obviously not paying attention.

But she does like to scribble!

Emily trying very hard to develop better art skills.

So awesome to see them sharing their gifts and talents with each other. I love to watch them teach and learn together.

Soft Pretzel Making Fun

Xiomara and Kemiah went to the activity last night and made soft pretzels. Everyone else was so excited and wanted to make them so today, they finished school before lunch and were all excited to try it.

They waited so patiently

 (right outside the kitchen doorway).

Kemiah got a little carried away.

Everyone enjoyed making their own creation.

Rolling it out was a bit of a challenge.

Camdilyn just enjoyed playing with the dough,

and didn't want anyone's help.

I think we'll be doing this a lot in the future. They really tasted great and it was fun time with my kids. I didn't care what happened or how they did it. It wasn't very messy or stressful. What a fun time!

Farm Activity Center Time Again

We have had this center since Ben.

Each child has enjoyed it.

What fun for all of us.

Especially the other girls who like to play with the baby.

Oh yes, but also oh no!

Camdilyn has always been a hair baby. She loves to hold my hair when she sucks her thumb. If she needs comforting, she goes for my hair. Now that her hair is getting longer, I have tried to get her to use her own hair but she has always rejected it. I noticed today, that she was actually using her own hair! She was actually doing the exact same thing that Marissa used to do (and still does on occasion) - stick her hair in her ear. The bad thing is that she sucks her thumb when she does that so it sort of causes a disturbance in the whole trying to stop the thumb sucking efforts. 

What is that?

Xiomara shared cupcakes that she got from her teacher at Church.

They were all brightly frosted.

Camdilyn really enjoys the frosting,

but not the cake so much.
